Angels are meant to fall, so they say. And one by one, they did. Many were lost. With only one pure light left, Namine the Alpha and Omega, Protector of Life, summoned the last remaining angel in Heaven.

Roxas.

Given the task of returning the last surviving earthbound angel, he was cast from Heaven. The fallen angels that rebelled against Heaven and God, Larxene and Marluxia were to be eliminated. For too long had the scale been turned to the side of darkness. Only by returning the earthbound angel to the light would the scale shift back into balance.

Roxas did not want this.

The last remaining angel had his immortality stripped, forced to walk as a mortal and endure the pain of flesh and blood. But beyond that, the highly potent emotions of a human.

The angel caught between light and dark was Axel. He was once one of the most highly regarded and beloved angels in Heaven. Until he fell to Earth after Larxene and Marluxia. He was Roxas's dear friend, but even now, Roxas can't forgive him.

Larxene and Marluxia have been trying to coax Axel into the shadows, through whatever means neccesary. But when Axel hears of Roxas's arrival, he seeks him out, perhaps out of wanting to be redeemed. Unlike Axel, Roxas is not happy to see his former best friend. They battle. Axel has always been stronger, faster, but it doesn't stop Roxas from unleashing all the power he can muster. The memories mean nothing, he tells himself.

But mortality is taking it's toll on Roxas. The real and imaginary are blurred. And in his weakness, Marluxia takes the opportunity to strike him down. And Roxas lays there. He is surprised when Axel comes to him. Furious, he tells the fallen angel to leave him to die here, but Axel will not have any of that. With Roxas incapacitated, he brings him to safety. There, Roxas has to confront the feelings he has for Axel, the feelings he tried to tell himself were gone. They weren't.

And he surrendered to Axel.

Axel made Roxas fall.

Roxas left the Heavens forsaken. This were fine, it seemed. He and Axel were together and the scale seemed level. Until Larxene saw to eliminate Roxas. Axel went after Marluxia. Though Roxas managed to defeat one of the fallen angels, Axel was distant.

Roxas cared about nothing but Axel anymore. He was determined to follow him and never let him leave again. He did not expect Axel to tell him that he was given orders to destroy him. Was he played by Axel this entire time?

Was Axel really just an evil angel?

Roxas was betrayed yet again. This time, he wouldn't forgive Axel. They fought, Roxas forcing Axel to the ground. He wouldn't listen and wouldn't forget what he had done. Marluxia emerged from the darkness. This had all gone according to his plan.

With Axel out of the way, he could exteriminate Heaven's last chance. They battled, darkness versus the tainted light. Roxas was overpowered. His light was going out. Suddenly, Axel guarded the angel from Marluxia's blast. Stunned by Axel's actions, Roxas could not say a word. And Axel simply smiled at him.

He never said he would follow through with those orders. Roxas ran to him and together they dispatched Marluxia. For the remainder of their time on Earth, they spent it together. Namine watched from above with a smile. The story was over. And when angels fall, it's not the end.
